PRACTICAL TRAVEL TIPS / SIX FREE READS
Small decisions.
Better trips.
Before you book, before you pack, and when you arrive. Start with the question on your mind.
The cheapest flight can cost you more.
A low fare is only one part of the journey. Compare what it takes to get from your front door to your hotel before choosing a flight.
Pack for the week you will actually have.
Start with the weather, activities and laundry plan. A useful suitcase is a small collection of things that work together, with room to bring something home.
Make your first 24 hours the easiest part.
You do not need a minute-by-minute holiday. You do need a clear way to get from your arrival point to a room, a meal and a good first night.
Read hotel reviews beyond the star score.
The useful question is not whether everyone likes a hotel. It is whether its rooms, location and service fit the particular trip you are taking.
Prepare your phone for a day without signal.
A saved link is not always an offline copy. Prepare a small travel folder that still helps when mobile data, an app login or your battery lets you down.
Plan a group trip without endless messages.
Most group-trip friction begins before departure: different budgets, vague commitments and one person doing all the work. Set a few agreements before anyone pays.
PUT YOUR KNOW-HOW TO WORK
Three practical planning lessons.
Choose a route, find your base and practise a trip budget with one of our India destinations.

Give the journey enough time
Begin with your arrival and departure times. A three-day break does not always give you three days to explore: an eight-hour journey can consume most of the first day. Write down the usable mornings, afternoons and evenings before adding places.
Choose one anchor experience for each day, then group nearby stops around it. Leave room for meals, check-in, queues and a weather change. If the route crosses the same area repeatedly, change the order or reduce the stops.

Choose a base, then a room
Place your main activities on a map. Compare two possible bases by transfer time, meals nearby and the ease of returning in the evening. A lower room price can mean more transport spending and less time enjoying the place.
Before booking, ask about the details that affect your group: final price with taxes, room occupancy, cancellation terms, arrival time, steps or lift access, and the last part of the approach road. With children, check meal options and extra-bed rules directly.

Build a budget you can explain
Separate per-person expenses from shared ones. Travel tickets and meals usually scale with travellers. A room or taxi is a group cost, up to its capacity. Count hotel nights separately from trip days, and include every intercity move.
Add a buffer and list the exclusions. Shopping, extra luggage, an early-arrival room and a special activity can change the final cost. Replace example allowances with actual quotes before booking; a planning total is not a price guarantee.

Replace the local-transport total for your group size; it does not scale automatically. A room may not allow two adults plus a child.
