The journey is part of the Nilgiris.
Ooty sits within a larger Nilgiri landscape of hill towns, tea and mountain transport. The Nilgiri Mountain Railway is part of UNESCO’s Mountain Railways of India listing. Ooty and Coonoor are separate bases, so a rail outing needs a plan for luggage and the return journey.
